Crystal Crop boosts agri-business portfolio with acquisition of Sadanand Cotton Seeds from Kohinoor Seeds

Crystal Crop Protection Limited, a rapidly growing crop protection company in India that focuses on research and development, has acquired the Sadanand Cotton Seeds business from Kohinoor Seeds. This acquisition will strengthen Crystal’s cotton seeds portfolio and support its goal of providing innovative solutions to stakeholders in the cotton seed industry.

Crystal Crop Protection has consistently shown its commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and crop yields through innovation and quality. Satyender Singh, CEO of Seeds at Crystal Crop Protection, believes that this acquisition will not only reinforce the company’s market presence in the Cotton Seeds segment but also expand its reach within the broader seeds industry.

Cotton is a crucial cash crop for farmers, and Crystal is dedicated to collaborating with farmers to increase their income levels. The acquisition of Sadanand represents an important milestone in Crystal’s presence in the cotton crop sector, and the company aims to continue the legacy of Sadanand and provide exceptional value to customers.

Pawan Kansal, Managing Director of Kohinoor Seed Fields India Private Limited, expressed delight in the acquisition, stating that Crystal Crop Protection is a leading company in the segment with a focus on innovation and digitization. Kansal believes that this acquisition will further strengthen the Sadanand brand.

Crystal’s seeds business has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by both organic and inorganic expansion efforts. The company is a prominent seed provider in multiple segments, including cotton, mustard, fodder, sorghum, and pearl millet. The acquisition of Sadanand Cotton Seeds is expected to boost Crystal’s seeds business revenues by approximately 20%.

This acquisition is the tenth addition to Crystal’s strategic portfolio and the fourth investment in the Seeds business. In the past, Crystal has successfully acquired various agrochemical and seed brands from multinational companies, including Bayer, Syngenta, FMC, and Dow-Corteva. The company also expanded its manufacturing capabilities through the acquisition of a production facility in Nagpur from the Solvay group in 2018.

Crystal Crop Protection continues to solidify its position in the agribusiness sector through innovation, quality, and strategic expansion. The acquisition of Sadanand Cotton Seeds adds value to Crystal’s diverse agribusiness portfolio and allows the company to offer high-quality cotton seeds backed by research and advanced agricultural solutions. This investment demonstrates Crystal’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and its mission to support Indian farmers.
